Laying the foundation

Chiropractic care is like building a house – certain things have to happen in a particular order in order for everything to stand strong and work correctly. When building a house, if you tried to put up your walls before you had a solid foundation, your walls would be weak and eventually collapse. If you tried to put on your roof before the walls were ready, you would run into the same problem. The same is true for your body. Your body has to go through a particular plan of care in order to repair itself correctly and fully. There are three general phases of chiropractic care . . .

Pain Care

If you are in pain when you come into our office, the first objective is to help you feel better. All chiropractors offer this type of care.  If you choose only this type of care (not following up with corrective care), it is very likely your symptoms will return. How soon they return will vary, and how long it takes to get rid of the symptoms will likely be longer.

Corrective Care

During corrective care, we address the source of your symptoms relieving the excess stress placed on the nervous system. There are several goals to corrective care; they include getting rid of pain/symptoms, restoring the proper alignment of your spine, stopping degeneration of joint and nerve structures, equalizing muscle balance, and most importantly getting back your optimal nervous system function. Expect a time commitment when you choose this type of care as well as taking an active roll in your road to health. We include a nutrition consult with this plan to help you be sure you are giving your body what it needs to heal and prevent disease. After corrective care you can expect to feel revitalized!!

Wellness Care

Once you have undergone corrective care, it is important to come in for periodic adjustments to maintain your spine and avoid problems in the future. Usually, this only requires a quick visit to the chiropractor 1-4 times per month, based on your lifestyle and goals.  We also see many children who begin with wellness care because their parents have opted to bring them in before they have any major health problems.
